The American Cancer Society’s Man to Man prostate cancer support group meets the first Tuesday of each month, 6-8 p.m., at Arkansas Urology, 1300 Centerview Drive in Little Rock. The Tuesday sessions are open free of charge to the newly diagnosed, survivors and their families and caregivers.
Social workers report that patients with prostate cancer respond favorably to the session model typically employed in the Man to Man sessions. The session model offers participants 1) information and research studies about prostate cancer and treatment options and 2) information on maintaining the best possible quality of life. Typically, the Man to Man session begins with a lecture followed by smaller subgroup discussions among patients with similar concerns. Patients are grouped according to their interest, and the discussion is centered on coping strategies and one on one questions and answers.
More information about the Man to Man program is available from the American Cancer Society at cancer.org or by calling 800-ACS-2345 toll-free or Arkansas Urology at 501-219-8900.
