Clinical Research Trials
Arkansas Urology has participated
in 30-40 clinical research trials to date. These trials involve
using drugs that are not yet available
to the general public. The clinic participates in more urological
research trials than any other clinic in the state. A dedicated
staff, including physicians and nurse practitioners, oversees
the clinic's trials.
There are usually about 10 trials that
are open at a time. Arkansas Urology patients who participate
receive free medications
and medical
care. They are often paid to participate in the drug study.
For
patients, there are many benefits to participating in one of
these clinical research trials. Participants are given treatment
options that are not available to the public, giving them access
to cutting-edge technology and medications.
Most of Arkansas
Urology's studies are focused on prostate cancer, but studies
also include conditions such as overactive
bladder,
sexual dysfunction and urinary tract infections. Prostate
cancer prevention
trials are also open.
